Major Charles Frost (1631-1697) was born in Tiverton, Devon, England. He was stationed in Kittery, Maine (present-day Eliot, Maine) and was the highest-ranking military leader in Maine during King William's War until he was assassinated by Indians. (Reportedly natives killed him because he worked with Richard Waldron during King Philips War.) On 4 July 1897, the people of Kittery, Maine held a commemoration ceremony to mark the 200th anniversary of the natives murder of Frost.〔http://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=nyp.33433081783759;view=1up;seq=61〕 == Legacy == * namesake of Frost Hill, Eliot, Maine (Natives dug up Mr. Frost's body and hoisted it upon a pole at the top of Frost's Hill)〔http://trees.ancestry.com/view/Military.aspx?pid=380750462&tid=1296466〕 * namesake of Ambush Rock; which covers his grave with a plaque in his memory〔http://www.eliotmaine.org/index.asp?SEC=D4933F43-1001-421B-9CC3-A70277481728&DE=18956078-288B-474B-B6C2-A5BD9359B65B&Type=B_BASIC〕 He married Mary Bolles in 1660〔http://search.ancestry.com/cgibin/sse.dlldb=genepool&h=255919&indiv=try&gss=pt&ssrc=pt_t73330136_p42404854129_ktidz0q3d73330136z0q26pidz0q3d42404854129z0q26pgz0q3d32842z0q26pgplz0q3dtidz0q257cpidz0q26pgpsz0q3d42404854129_h83694167800〕who gave birth to a daughter, Sarah Frost, in 1666.〔http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=7348682&ref=acom〕 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Charles Frost (military officer)」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
